Honestly there are times when it just seems unreal today.
This was the view from our breakfast table.
Oh. We saw a new use of corrugated metal siding. They stamp it to make it look like cinder blocks.
Isn’t that interesting??
We left our Fjord and climbed over the hill to this…
We drove about 2 hours to an area where you still feel like The Earth is very much alive.
First of all as you look up and around you realize the mountains are all exploded…these are ALL different mountains.
And then there is this little thing they call an “explosion crater”–about 1/2 mile to walk all the way around.
And everywhere the ground is steaming. One was noisy like a jet engine, and several made just a moderate amount of noise.
And then you have crazy spots where the earth is actually BOILING. Honestly just like a saucepan with thick chocolate on a low heat. It BOILs.
This is the one place where they really have safety barriers…and all I can think is burn victims are too darn expensive to the government–
I actually left there a little emotionally shaken up. It just made me question security. What seems so solid–the Earth’s surface–was so disrupted today.
This was a cute girl from Wales who is analyzing the “mud” for her undergraduate thesis in Environmental Science. Her mom is getting the sample.
Now we are at Lake Myvatn for 2 nights. This is the view from our room.
Things we love:
and all of you…
