Our last day in Iceland.
We splurged last night and stayed in a magnificent hotel. The original owner collected are which is hanging all over the hotel. It was such a pleasure to be there, though interestingly enough on a trip where we have met very few Americans, that is all there was in the hotel.
Then this morning since we still had a car we went to the house/museums of two more sculpturers. This guy liked totem poles.

Behind his house was this place. We were afraid to go closer
This fellow was around the same time as the guy who did the Dead Wife sculpture. The first several are from when he was a young man (and I would say madly in love). Then he became influence by Henry Moore..
There was a tree in his sculpture garden that had been knitted. We have seen light poles and parking signs knitted in Berkeley, but I though this was pretty cool. And some sort of interesting artistic statement, maybe even feminist statement creating this in the middle of plaster and bronze.
To continue the theme (unintentional) of the day. We drove to Keflivik and had lunch, stopping into a ship model museum. All of these ships were made of real Icelandic fishing boats…and all made by the same man.
Right across the street was a Glass blowing shop. This young man’s cousin (who is in his 30’s) and cousin’s mother are the glass blowers, but this fellow helps and has been doing small pieces for the last 3 years. He is 15 and has clearly found his passion!!!
