Summer of Slow Travel

Salt has been mined here for hundreds of years.   Early in the 1900 some miners started making chapels in the mined areas, including making statues.  The mines are not active now–except for allowing tourists to walk 700 steps DOWN to see the chapels

I don’t like being underground –but the experience was amazing.  More just being in a mine.   But here are some pictures  

    Ok.  Looking at theses pictures I’m thinking it was pretty cool and I was just very anxious.   I told Max I was pretending like I was on the Amazing Race and this was a challenge!!

We came back to a lovely mild evening and enjoyed tea on a rooftop and wandering through the streets. 

       Tomorrow we go explore Wawel Castle.
