Last day in Luxor

Oh my gosh…what a day.. we checked out of the ship that took us down the Nile and went directly to Karnak Temple…which is HUGE.  everyone built in it–Rameses, Hetsutshep, Tutmosthis, Alexander the Great…for over 1800 years…there are no pictures that can convey the size…so here are a few of may favorite ones.

shoot.  We are at a beautiful hotel..but it has a VERY slow internet…and since I still dont know how to “optimize” my images they load very slowly.

For lunch we left our hotel by walking down some stairs to boat in the Nile, and crossed the Nile to a beach where a 9 year old girl and her 10 year old brother held onto the boat rope while we climbed onto the beach.  Then we went to her fathers house and had the best lunch ever.   He took us around and showed us the wood stove where the bread was cooked, the grinding wheel used for making flour from the wheat we saw growing.   Was just so open about sharing his life and family with us.

After a nap by the pool we went on another carriage ride around the city…including riding through there main souk-for a long time.   It was only about 6 feet wide.  Though it felt to me like we were very intrusive, the Egyptians were as kind and welcoming as they have been everywhere.

Tomorrow up at 5 to return to Cairo…

hopefully pictures will load better there.
