Islamic Cairo

We returned to Cairo yesterday and went to a Souk… this is a huge street  market..We knew what they were  because we rode through one in a carriage in Luxor…which now I think about it was a really strange mixing of cultures…

anyhow they are fun and crazy and crowded…shops tend to specialize…there is the scales shop, the big pan shop, the shop that has the basics for smoking hookah.

Of course, people watching is more then half the fun

Then we walked into old Cairo… this is the area that Naguib Mahfouz wrote about…he won The Noble Prize for literature…I loved seeing the old buildings I had read about.

Max and I went out all by ourselves for dinner but we didn’t take any pictures..

we are going to rest now.. Flying out in two hours..will post some more along the way..love
