HOME

Well..we made it home and slept on and off for the last two days.   We left our hotel in Cairo at 11pm on Wednesday night, and after 31 hours of traveling arrived her at 5 on Thursday.

All I can say it that was an amazing adventure..   Being in a country that still is working on its infrastructure was not as overwhelming as I thought it might be…of course, we were totally coddled..

The people in Egypt were so kind…they even refrained from saying much about Trump…they are just so polite and considerate.   I always said I was from California when they asked.

My big thought…we kept talking about the Pharoahs and Priests– who at times held as much power as the Pharoah–and of course the amazing architects.  But then one time I was looking at a carving on the temple and I realized that we would know nothing about this us civilization if it had not been recorded by thousands of workmen.   Each of us contributes to the legacy of our civilization in some way.

My little thoughts

  • If you go on a tour stay in the departing city a couple of extra days…we had to get back to work, but once we retire we will always just stay put for a couple of days.   You are comfortabley housed somewhere, and used to the system…we could easily have enjoyed a couple more days in Cairo.  AND The tour kept us so busy that we actually started that trek home tired.
  • I can be easily brainwashed…it was fun to watch all these bright people ( me included) become totally dependent on Tarek.   Towards the end we were at an airport and he said “ok, go to the bathroom” and ALL of us got up and went..
  • Prunes really work!

We were with Odyssey Unlimited and I would most highly recommend them.   Many people had taken several…up to seven… trips with Odyssey and said they deliver a great experience everywhere.

Max was so happy with them that he is willing to go to INDIA…which has been high on my list and a “No way” on his..as long as we go with Odyssey.

We did more each day then I would have if we were traveling alone…so I was more tired, BUT it didn’t matter because there was none of that mental part of traveling that you have to be so awake for…AND I slept like a teenager.

Here are a few pictures that sum up the trip.   Thanks again for joining me…love Barb
