A little bit of Geography

Ok, this is an extra post tonight because I just think this is so strange.

You can see where we flew into Lithuania, with Poland to the South-and to the West would be Germany. We drive north to Latvia and then Estonia. Finding a little bit of Spring along the way…yay! And then we are going to go right [East)) and hit St Petersburg.

BUT. Look closely and there WEST of Lithuania is a bit of RUSSIA. I kept wondering about that before we came here and at lunch today I had time to ask our guide. She says that is actually the original Prussia (who I believe were the bad asses that united the Germany empire.) Well when USSR moved in after WWII they “replaced ” all the Germans with Russian. So it is just hanging out being Russian.

This is a wild piece of history here, but that is likely the wildest story.

And what about Belarus. Am I the only one who thought that was just a weird typo, and didn’t realize it was hanging out right by Poland?

We are really learning so much about the history here. It comes to life when you see the people and the Museums.
