Summer of Slow Travel

Been listening to this book. One of the points he makes is how “The Movies” portray Africa. And he is right… The choices seem to be one of three– emotional growth of white person when exposed to a backwards culture, rival warlords killing everyone or insanely peaceful Safari. His concern is that as well as devaluing real people it makes it less likely for people to see some countries in Africa as an investment opportunity and others as really interesting place to go see (without wildlife.)

Well just watched “Recipes for Love and Murder”. Its on Prime Video, but only free for 3 more days–so download it. Set in South Africa and felt well-rounded to me.
