Summer of Slow Travel

Palaces bother me because they are supposed to intimidate the population…the strength they convey means they can continue taxing people to make them pay to convey their strength.

And yet palaces impress me because they tell others.. “don’t mess with my folks, I can kill you” and make life more secure for people.

And it works

This is a Nubian Temple that would have been covered by Lake Nassar, along with much larger temples, without the help of Spain (and others).
