Thyssen-Bornemisza museum

Thyssen-Bornemisza museum

Three generations of art collectors have made this museum a true gem. Bought, then donated all the art.

Today was the opening of this exhibit:

She won her first big prize at the age of 28 in 1932

this was my favorite

Then was on the Republican side of the Civil War (socialists), was arrested, and the night before she was going to be executed her eventual husband helped her escape!

Amazing artist. Had been lost a little to history, so most of the paintings were borrowed from her family’s “private collection”.

May need to go back here:

Loving life!

absolutely love that painting! I spent the morning hand stitching some work. She captured the moment so tenderly.

Here’s a question; have you been able to get any Spaniards to smile? They were always so serious when I was there. 😃

I think they smile more now. Certainly are kind.

We’re in Colorado for the past week for Hadley’s 7th birthday. Leaving for home tommorow. Just sitting down to check out your adventure … just keeps getting better! LOVE the colorful umbrellas covering the street. And the art, and the buildings … ❤️❤️ V
