Joaquin Sorolla (1863-1920)

Joaquin Sorolla (1863-1920)

Soralla is an amazing Spanish painter. There is a new exhibit at Prada talking about the transformation of Spain 1895-1910, and he has 3 large paintings in the exhibit.

Maria Tracy had recommended we see his house which was made into a museum.

A lovely and intimate way to see his work…most of what the family had was paintings of their time together

He died at the age of 60, three years after having a major stroke. His wife, Clothide, had the presence of mind to will all their paintings and their house to Spain. And yet there is very little said about her.
